Why you need excellent Personal and Business alignment.

Why you need excellent Personal and Business alignment.

Read the fifth edition of our motivational letter to understand why self-employed entrepreneurs need to have excellent personal- and business alignment, in order to achieve their dreams.

The self-employed entrepreneur’s business is an extension of himself.

  • The success of the business will depend on the actions of the entrepreneur – “The buck stops here.”
  • The entrepreneur’s self-actualization depends on the success of his business.

This interrelationship is crucial and needs to be fully understood.  The implications of not understanding and not implementing such an alignment can be disastrous for the entrepreneur and the business.

The goals, strategy, operational systems, culture and value system of the organization will be determined by the entrepreneur, and this “way of doing things” in the business will be evident to clients, family, friends and other stakeholders in the business.

The business owner’s set of values will also be evident to his friends, family and many other people that he has contact with in his personal- and business life. The owner will also have his own personal set of goals of how and what he would like to achieve in life.

These personal and business values and goals need to be aligned in order to achieve personal self-actualization and business success.

Stephen Covey, best-selling author of “Seven Habits of Highly Effective People”, poses these crucial questions: Do I trust myself? Am I someone who others can trust? There cannot be two sets of answers to these questions, as this will create conflict between the owner and the business and is not sustainable. It would be a recipe for disaster.

When ensuring that you have your personal- and business alignment in place it is important – as indicated by the Covey questions – to start with yourself.

  • Get clarity about yourself.
  • Your goals in life.
  • Your values.
  • What do you want to achieve in life?
  • How much time and effort are you willing to invest to develop your business?
  • What are you willing to sacrifice to achieve your dreams in the business environment?

The crucial thing about business- and personal alignment is to begin by “looking inward” to yourself and then develop the business based on that.

The goals, strategy, systems and values of the business need to be aligned with that of the owner or entrepreneur. This can only be achieved by first “looking inward” to you, as owner of the business.

The Secret of my Success program will assist self-employed individuals to achieve this necessary alignment.

In this program we will help self-employed people to:

  • Understand and manage their beliefs and habits.
  • Understand their reasons for having their own business
  • Identify and understand their unique strengths

Implement the winning formula: Good personal- and business alignment = business success + self-actualization.
