No need to quit.  Here’s how to survive the challenges!

We believe in enabling self-employed, or aspiring self-employed entrepreneurs to discover their underutilized personal potential and that of their businesses. This will help them to achieve their dreams of successful business growth and enjoy a balanced lifestyle.

So many people ask: WHY?

Are you discouraged by the high failure rate of businesses?

No need to quit – Here’s how to survive the challenges | Entrepreneurial Challenges Newsletter Sixteenth Edition

In my view, we live in a business- and world environment of contradictions.

  • We learn about success stories of entrepreneurs
  • The knowledge explosion
  • Self-employed entrepreneurs are suffering to survive; the failing rate is very high

Why these apparent contradictions? Are they real?

We hear many stories about the successes of self-employed entrepreneurs – but why is every entrepreneur not successful?

Luckily we live in exciting times – the solutions are available!! Learn more about these.

The media is well covered with stories about the achievements of successful entrepreneurs who are admired by many.  Entrepreneurs like Bill Gates, Richard Branson, Carlos Slim, Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Job and many others spring to mind.

Less is written in the media about the problems and struggles of self-employed entrepreneurs.  Though one finds more and more articles with content like:

  • “Entrepreneurs have struggled silently. There’s a sense that they can’t talk about it, that it’s a weakness.”
  • “70% of new companies do not survive the first 2 years.”
  • “Entrepreneurial Life Shouldn’t Be This Way–Should It?”
  • “What is The Psychological Price of Entrepreneurship?”
  • “ ….the biggest barriers would-be entrepreneurs perceive are… “
  • “Entrepreneurship Is Actually Vanishing”
  • “Entrepreneurs cannot raise enough money.”
  • “I don’t have a business idea.”
  • “I am discouraged by the high failure rate of businesses.”
  • “I don’t have the right skills.”
  • “Worry about balancing business and family life.”
  • “The competitive barriers are too high.”

The list of problems, facing self- employed entrepreneurs, or aspiring entrepreneurs is endless.

Why are we reading more and more about highly successful entrepreneurs, while others are suffering more and more?

There must be some unanswered questions or issues that do not meet the eye.

The reason why the problem exists is exacerbated when taking the following into consideration:

  • Business is very challenging due to the uncertainty of the political and economic environment, the need to adapt to the continuous technological changes, consumer behaviour and the market, and many other related issues.
  • It is also a fact that knowledge and solutions are more readily available now (than at any time in history), to solve problems and the challenges facing entrepreneurs.
  • The most interesting is that wisdom is also more available. Wisdom from people who have experienced the same problems as yours, and have been able to solve them.

Either this knowledge and wisdom is not reaching the self-employed in need, or it is not being applied by them, while others, who are aware of the solutions, apply it successfully into their businesses to reach their dreams. Why?

During research I have done, I became aware of an even more fascinating element of this problematic issue.

Why are so many experts available to help these budding or practising entrepreneurs, but somehow they are not able to reach them? Only the great exception of these experts is able to make contact with these people in need and support them to achieve great success.

This problem is even bigger in the developing world than in the developed world.

The business models of Dream it! Plan it! Do it! are based on this problem.

I am aware of the problems and challenges facing the self-employed.  I have experienced them myself. I want to use those experiences to help the self-employed understand and solve the above contradiction, by developing a platform for those with the expertise to support and guide them to achieve their dreams.
