Success in life not only depends on our ability or training, it is actually more dependent on our ability to create the favourable conditions needed to grasp and attract  new opportunities and ideas which can improve our business or life.

Our challenge in life is to nurture the right environment in our mind for new opportunities or ideas to germinate. They need fertile soil to germinate. The more fertile the soil, the better and faster they grow. This “fertile soil” symbolizes our mind set or attitude towards our personal environment.

Each of us controls our own mental attitude. Those who have negative attitudes will never see opportunities in life, they will only see problems. Therefore, they will not be able to develop new opportunities to reach the success, joy and happiness they dream of.

How do we nurture and control a positive mental attitude? There are many ways. I would like to give you my preferred short list.

Try these to assist you to attract new opportunities:

  • Learn from the attitudes of successful people. What helps them to be positive? How do they handle disappointments? How do they speak to other people? How do they listen? Surround yourself with positive people. Avoid negative people.
  • Be crystal clear about your inner vision and dreams; about what you want to achieve in life. If you do not have clarity, talk to people; read, research and find clarity.
  • Accept yourself and live with inner peace. Realise that you are a human being with some unique skills, talents and strengths that you can develop and optimise. If you are uncertain of them, make an effort to discover and develop them.
  • See and enjoy the small, as well as the big things in your life that you can be grateful for. The smiles of someone, the mountains or sea, the good service you received from somebody, the love from a beloved one, and so much more. We tend not to enjoy them as much as we should; we take them for granted; we tend to see only the ugly and negative and bemoan them. This is an attitude that we can change. About 70% of our natural daily thoughts tend to be negative and only 30% positive. We must work to change this. One of the best and most productive ways to do this is to develop an attitude of gratefulness. Try it, work on it daily. It’s worth the effort!

Follow these small steps to develop a positive attitude. You will be amazed at how quickly you will be able to attract new opportunities and ideas that will help you on your journey to fulfill your dreams in life.
