A winner

A winner is the person who has the mindset to overcome all obstacles and has the attitude that he will succeed and will be a winner!  Think before you act is the winners attitude and the winners mindset which enables the outcome to be successful.

We are told when growing up that in order to be a winner we must have a winners mindset and a winners attitude.  This usually translates into always being busy and trying all the time.  Never stand still, but keep going and find the winner in you.

In the game of football there comes a time when the goal keeper has to face a penalty kick. This means that the opponent stands close to the goals with a clear shot and no obstacles in the way.  The chances of the goal keeper saving the penalty shot is very slim.  He either has to dive to the right or dive to the left.  He cannot read the mind of his opponent, so he has a split second to make that decision once the ball has been kicked.

A study was undertaken by a team of students from Israel wherein they took an average of penalty kicks and discovered that in 99% of cases, had the goal keeper stood still and not dived, he would have saved the goal.  So, why do the keepers dive to save the ball?  Is it because of the fact that, should they just stand there and do nothing and the ball goes in to the net, they will be seen as a failure but if they at least attempt a dive then even if the ball does go in, they will at least be seen as attempting to have saved the goal.  So, time and again all over the world in soccer matches the goal keeper dives to save the penalty, when in fact, had he stood still, he would have saved the ball and been a winner.

The winner in you sometimes needs to stand still in order to win.  In many instances in life a situation has turned against a person and instead of just standing still and waiting to see which way the ball will bounce, they dive in and change complete direction, which results in an even greater loss.

A winners attitude needs to sometimes be that, in order to see the bigger picture, you need to slow down the pace a little and have a good look at what is in front of you before jumping to any hasty decisions.

The true winners in the world are those who have a winners mindset and take time to think things through before just diving in.

A lot of people who have failed to become a winner is due to the fact that they have to continuously take action.  Instead of waiting it out and seeing which way the tree will fall, they choose another direction completely.  This is all because they feel that in order to be seen as a winner they need to be always doing something or taking some form of action.

More often than not, the true way is to have a winners mindset and to wait and watch.  Stand still and take some time to see what the outcome of the other action is to be before taking action yourself.

Do not act just because of what others will have to say about your actions.  Stand still and think about your way forward and the winners mindset in you will decide for you which way to turn.  A winner has the power to stand still and observe and then act.  This can be the difference between winning and losing.
